In the 2005-2006 school year, Orion’s Mind executed two pilot programs at Burr Elementary, a Chicago Public School.

The results were spectacular!

• Test scores went up
• Homework grades improved
• Classroom participation increased
• Students read more at home
• Confidence in their ability to learn sky-rocketed

Tim Butterfield, a Scantron representative, said Orion’s Mind had "some of the best scores he had ever seen from a tutoring program.”

Fall Program: November 2005-December 2005

Students were in school at the time and were tutored by experienced educators. After 40 hours of tutoring, the students improved 1+ years in math and 8 months in reading. There was also a 94% attendance rate among participants throughout this program which took place with 2-hour sessions 4 days a week.

Summer Program: June 2006-July 2006

This program was taught during summer vacation, and the students were not receiving any additional instruction beyond our program. The tutors were college interns trained with the Orion’s Mind tutoring program. After 32 hours of tutoring, students improved on average 7 months in math and 7 months in reading with 90% attendance rate.

Researchers concluded that Orion’s Mind curriculum helps students make substantial gains in the fundamental learning areas of reading and math while being motivated as shown through the high attendance rate of the respondent population.
